Legacy codebases are often avoided because they drain productivity and morale. I will figure out and document the most complex parts of your codebase, and turn it into a simple module that has a clear explanation of the problem.
Hard, unfamiliar problems often come at an unfortunate time. I will figure out the problem and implement a solution using your tech stack. If the problem is outside the realm of your UI library of choice, I’ll build it using vanilla APIs. I won’t force frameworks or methodologies on you; instead, I’ll make both the problem and the solution clear for your team so they can continue development on their own.
My approach is to first find the essential problem to solve and organize the codebase to arrive at the solution in the most direct and simple way. That reduces complexity, allows to optimize performance where needed, and leaves behind a clear and maintainable codebase.
